Week 24 – Spirit Is All There Is

Spirit and Universal Mind Are One

Spirit and MindThe Master Key Part Twenty-Four conjures thoughts and linkages regarding Spirit and attitudes of mind including confidence, faith, humility, wisdom, and courage. The mental and spiritual mechanisms responsible for our ability to shape reality are shown to be as infallible as those operating in the physical world.

The linkages I think of are to The Scroll Marked VI (The Greatest Salesman In The World by Og Mandino) and to the Confidence Builder (Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill), which we have come to know as The Blueprint Builder. It seems a fitting finale to our guided journey of self discovery and a fine launch pad into the new reality we have either fully claimed or can now see the way to its attainment.

Spirit

The minute the spirit leaves the body, we are as nothing. Therefore, spirit is really, all there is of us

Charles Haanel

Haanel indicates the Universal Mind and Spirit are synonymous (Part Twenty-Four -26) and that it is not individual but present in all places at the same time (Part Twenty-Four -27). He says in 28Men have, heretofore, generally used the word “God” to indicate this Universal, creative principle;” and “Most people understand this word to mean something outside of themselves; while exactly the contrary is the fact.”

He ends with the fact without Spirit we would cease to exist because “The minute the spirit leaves the body, we are as nothing. Therefore, spirit is really, all there is of us.” When you understand that this represents the creative force of the Universe, that the Mind or Spirit has the power to think, and because this creative force is within each of us, we have the power to create our reality.

But Haanel cautions “only those who are wise enough to understand, broad enough to weigh the evidence, firm enough to follow their own judgment, and strong enough to make the sacrifice exacted, may enter and partake.”

This is a powerful statement. I immediately think of the knowledge or information we accumulate is useless unless we are aware enough to relate it to our “truths”, and are broad minded enough to accept what is, rather than focusing on what is wished to be. Then add in having the courage of your convictions (think Emerson and self-reliance here) and the persistence to do what it takes (the Law of Cause and Effect, Giving and Receiving), and you are well on your way to connecting with this Universal Creative force.

Confidence and Faith

To me these are nearly one and the same. I am of course thinking of self confidence and faith in oneself. I think it a well accepted fact that performance of any intricate manoeuver, such as you see in sports like gymnastics, hockey, diving and so on, not only requires a great deal of practice, but also a great deal of faith in your ability to do it. I dare say that 90% of successful performance is attributable to confidence.

Haanel’s statement “no matter what the difficulty is, no matter where it is, no matter who is affected, you have no patient but yourself; you have nothing to do but to convince yourself of the truth which you desire to see manifested.” (Part Twenty-Four -10) applies equally well here as to any other desire you may have.

I also recall Haanel’s reference in Part Eleven (18) to the fact you must “be” before you “can have or do” when he says “Truth is not the result of logical training or of experimentation, or even of observation; it is the product of a developed consciousness. Truth within a Caesar, manifests in a Caesar’s deportment, in his life and his action; his influence upon social forms and progress.” (Part Twenty-Four -19).

In other words you have to believe the things you wish to have or the person you wish to be are already fact, before they can appear in your life. You cannot merely wish for something or profess to believe in a certain thing or way of life. You must live it. Actions speak so much louder than words. As Haanel says “truth will not manifest in creeds, but in conduct.”

Mandino expresses a similar thought in The Scroll Marked VI when he indicates mastery of moods and emotions is another key to success. “If I feel fear, I will plunge ahead” and “If I feel uncertain, I will raise my voice” clearly says you must be before you can have, and actions speak louder than words. I recall intuitively applying this principle when dealing with bullies when I was a youngster as related in an earlier post.

Napoleon Hill says “faith is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of autosuggestion. When faith is blended with thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it into its spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to Infinite Intelligence, as in the case of prayer” (Think and Grow Rich,Chapter III). It is in fact, the connecting link between the conscious mind of man and Universal Intelligence (The Master Key To Riches, Chapter One).

He is saying the same thing as Haanel. Hill equates faith with the emotion which must be attached to a thought or idea before it can be translated into a belief. Emotion or feeling plus thought, when repeatedly and consistently impressed upon the subconscious mind (by way of the conscious mind through autosuggestion) is the mechanism that raises the vibratory level of the thought to the stage where it can connect with the Universal Mind and the infinite resources thereby available.

Wisdom and Humility

Mandino suggests you better be on the lookout for moods or emotions that are disguised as the “good guys” if you find your self feeling over confident, complacent or all powerful, among other such moods (The Scroll Marked VI). When he suggests you remember past failures, remember your competition and try to stop the wind, respectively, in response to those feelings, he isn’t recommending you put on a negative mindset. He’s merely saying humility is your best response.

This is true wisdom. Haanel says wisdom begins with the dawn of reason in Part Eleven (33) wherein he discusses inductive reasoning. He says wisdom is illuminated reason which leads to humility. He goes on to say that “the large part of wisdom is humility“; a very nice linkage to the wisdom of Mandino I think.

Mental and Spiritual Mechanisms

Spiritual Mental MechanismsKnowledge does not apply itself. Mental and spiritual power are developed by the same methods as any other; by practice. We have been instructed each week on the application and Haanel says in Part Twenty-FourIf you have practiced each of the exercises a few minutes every day, as suggested, you will have found that you can get out of life exactly what you wish by first putting into life that which you wish.”

This is a concise statement of the principles inherent in The Blueprint Builder and how we make the connection to Infinite Intelligence, thereby creating our reality as we design it. He makes the point the only reality which exists, is that in your mind. The sound of a bell or the appearance of light is really only perceived as such in your mind. Each is merely energy vibrating at a frequency that is converted to sound or light in the mind because of the mechanism provided by the brain and sensory organs (Part Twenty-Four -2, 3).

So as Haanel continues “An understanding of this principle, I believe, is the secret for which the ancient Alchemists vainly sought, because it explains how gold in the mind may be transmuted into gold in the heart and in the hand.” In other words, if you understand how Infinite Intelligence is accessed, you can create whatever it is you desire because “all conditions are thought creations and therefore entirely mental” (Part Twenty-Four -8).

As we learned in Part Nine, the mechanism by which we access Infinite Intelligence is Visualization, a product of the imagination, which is spiritual in nature. So this power is sought and invoked in The Silence. This is where we go every day as we follow Haanel’s instructions for application of the knowledge gained. He says “Every form of concentration, forming Mental Images, Argument, and Autosuggestion are all simply methods by which you are enabled to realize the Truth.” (Part Twenty-Four -12).

One other remarkable thing I note in Part Twenty-Four is Haanel indicates “If you desire to help someone, to destroy some form of lack, limitation or error, the correct method is not to think of the person whom you wish to help; the intention to help them is entirely sufficient,” (Part Twenty-Four -13). This is exactly what Frederick Elias Andrews indicates in Part Nine when he tells of the affirmation he developed for himself, but also affirmed for others that he knew needed it; “I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy.” . He clearly advised that it is extremely important you affirm this for others as well as yourself. You must give before you can get!

And so I end with the knowledge that all power comes from within:

no matter what the difficulty is, no matter where it is, no matter who is affected, you have no patient but yourself; you have nothing to do but to convince yourself of the truth which you desire to see manifested.

Charles Haanel

Is that not almost unbelievable? And awe inspiring because it is!

The “March to 3,000” will be tremendous, but only a beginning.

Well – If I had seen this post at the beginning of the MKMMA course I would have wondered how they packed so much into 24 weeks. Having completed the course and done the mental work – I am still astounded and the lasting effects these lessons will produce for the rest of my life. Thank you for masterminding with me for the past 6 months!
