Week 3 Listen To That Gut Feeling
The Physical Reality
I bet everyone has that “gut feeling” about something or someone; meaning they just know something is right or wrong, or someone they’ve just met is, say, not what they seem. That’s often called intuition and it’s highly developed in some people.
In scientific terms that’s evidence of the connection between the organ of the conscious mind, the cerebro-spinal system and the organ of the subconscious mind, the sympathetic system (Key 3- 1,2,3). That connection is the Solar Plexus located behind the stomach, hence the reference to gut feeling and the sayings “trust your gut” and “first impressions are usually right”.
What it means to us is that mind is a single entity, an interconnected whole that may operate on different levels but controls the entire being through exquisitely complex mechanisms.
The Solar Plexus is like the sun, radiating the energy generated by the body from its central position to all parts of the body and externally to what I think of as a vibratory envelop around the body (Key 3- 5).
Jesus, Gandhi and now the Dalai Lama are examples of individuals whose radiated energy was, or is so powerful and positive, that people are attracted to them, feel wonderful in their presence and often healed of their ills merely by such contact. The antithesis of magnetism!
The Power of the Conscious Mind
This centre of energy is Omnipotent because it is the point of contact with all life and intelligence. It can therefore accomplish whatever it is directed to accomplish, and therein lies the power of the conscious mind; the subconscious can and will carry out such plans and ideas as may be suggested by the conscious mind.
(Key 3- 11)
The conscious mind we have learned is the “Gatekeeper” of the subconscious mind and conscious thought is the master of this sun centre. Thoughts which our reasoning or objective mind deems to be true are passed to the subconscious which has no ability to evaluate and judge their truth or rightness.
If these thoughts are true and positive the Solar Plexus radiates health and power. The opposite is true of negative thoughts, especially fearful thought. The result is interruption of the flow of energy from the centre and malfunction. We all know hypochondriacs who are said to make themselves ill simply by imagining they are afflicted.
When you combine faith, desire and confidence and focus that power on any situation, amazing things happen. Let me tell a story which I think relates well.
When our oldest son was in grade school, he was among the few anglophones there because we lived in French Canadian village south of Winnipeg. A good friend of his, also among the anglophone minority was a big, clumsy kid who struggled academically. For these reasons, kids being kids, he was bullied by the other kids at school. My son was apparently in the same boat.
I recall matter of factly telling my son how I dealt with being bullied when I was his age. I said bullies were essentially cowards who usually got up to their antics only in the presence of their friends and that I dealt with them by striking fast and hard when I had been provoked enough and unable to ignore the assault. There’s much more to the story but that’s the essence.
Years later I learned he had done exactly that, taking on three or four characters at once who were harassing his friend and kicking the S**t out of them, so to speak, on more than one occasion. His young mind accepted the thoughts I implanted in his mind because he had absolute faith that what I said was true. His desire to protect his friend (and likely himself) was earnest and the combination produced a response to the bullying that created the result he wanted. He was and is fearless to this day.
So the power our conscious thought wields in protecting and directing that entity which connects us to the Universal Mind, ultimately determining the nature of all our life experiences, is awesome indeed.
When you find that you are really one with the Infinite power, and when you can consciously realize this power by a practical demonstration of your ability to overcome any adverse condition by the power of your thought, you will have nothing to fear; fear will have been destroyed and you will have come into your birthright.
(Keys 3- 16)
It is said in Key 3- 14 that the arch enemy of the Solar Plexus is fear and unless fear is destroyed and expelled forever a perpetual gloom pervades life. But the quote from Key 3- 16 above says you can destroy fear completely by the power of your thought. And I ask how is that accomplished?
The answer is “wake the Solar Plexus” or in more scientific terms, “impress your subconscious mind”. And the way to do that is to “Mentally concentrate on the object of your desire; when you are concentrating you are impressing the subconscious” (Key 3- 22). “Thought concentrated on a definite purpose becomes power” (Key 2).
A Definite Major Purpose
We are concentrating our thoughts on a Definite Major Purpose; first defining it in very specific, precise language such that we form a clear mental picture of the person we wish to become and very precisely what we want our autobiography to say from this point on. What an awesome exercise.
Our reading of the Scrolls, The Keys, our Blueprint and the card and coloured pencil routines all point us in the same direction. For the first time in my life, although I’ve made big lists before of all the things I want to have for me and my family, I’ve only begun to feel I’m moving in the right direction since I began this journey.
My passions are family and the natural world and I leave a legacy of abundance and opportunity for my family as well as a positive impact on water and wetlands conservation, all the while having the liberty to get, give and do whatever I desire.
Stay tuned, this is an evolutionary process.
